We are delighted to be holding the first of our Paediatric First Aid courses at the Life in Focus Studio.
We will be running both Emergency Paediatric First Aid, a one day course ideal for parents and carers, or for those working with children (or wishing to have the more in depth training/knowledge) you can return for the second day.
Emergency Paediatric First Aid – 1 day course – Wednesday 28th March
If you are like many parents and worry whether you would know how to help your baby/child in an emergency, then this course is for you.
Delivered by an expert in First Aid this course is specifically designed for parents and carers, such as babysitters, and includes topics such as choking, resuscitation and so much more.
During the day we will cover:
1. Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider.
2. Be able to assess an emergency situation safely.
3. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is unresponsive and breathing normally.
4. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally.
5. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has a foreign body airway obstruction.
6. Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding.
7. Understand how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock.
8. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries. such as Burns
Following final assessment successful candidates will receive a Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid (QCF)
The cost for this is just £60 which is payable upon booking.
Paediatric First Aid – 2 day course – Wednesday 2nd May
You may be working within a school, nursery or other childcare setting, you may be a dance teacher, a guide leader or a volunteer who comes into contact with children. Or you may be like me photographer specialising in babies, children and families. For all of these roles a good solid foundation in Paediatric First Aid is a must.
This Level 3 qualification is an extended version of the Emergency Paediatric First Aid.
During the 2nd day we will cover:
1. Be able to administer first aid to an infant/child with injuries to bones, joints and muscles.
2. Be able to administer first aid to an infant/child with head and spinal injuries.
3. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose.
4. Understand how to administer emergency first aid to an infant/child with a chronic medical condition or sudden illness.
5. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat or cold.
6. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who has sustained an electric shock.
7. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child with burns or scalds.
8. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child who has been poisoned.
9. Understand how to administer first aid to an infant/child with anaphylaxis.
Following final assessment successful candidates will receive a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (QCF)
Both days will run from 9.15am until 3pm and will be held in our bright and comfortable studio in the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club in Rhu, Helensburgh.
The cost for the one day course is just £60, to add on the second day this is an additional £50. Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day but please bring your own lunch. There is plenty of free onsite parking. Unfortunately we cannot provide childcare.
